Albero a camme, or a cammes (francesismo...). Una camma, singular, camme is, or are, plural! Do not mix up camma with "gamma" which means (besides the greek letter) "range": una gamma di spessori is a range of shims (spesso as adjective is thick, but as an adverb it means often...), so when you adjust the swivel pins you need a range of shims aforehand, to choose from. Havig had to deal with Series since I was 14y-o, I have acquired a good knowledge of English automotive terms; the funny thing is that at LR they never worried about adding in their catalogues translations of the most important words. Now we have to get them to spell 'carburettor' properly

The term marmitta derives from the shape of the silencer, resmbling a type of pot called... marmitta. Yes, Alessio, 'cofano' makes sense with pre-WWII cars where the 'bonnet' did look like a coffin. It doesn't make much sense now but neither does 'bonnet' which was a ladies hat rather like that still worn by the Salvation Army. I know that the SA existed in France because my wife's grandfather was the colonel in charge, but maybe in Italy the Salvation Army never got a foothold. ps. my wife's mother converted to Catholicism, although she used to run the Boy Scouts. (I have got completely off the subject by now)
