Mine explosion on Dakar!


The Telefonica Dakar Rally hit more drama today [Sunday] when a KTM assistance vehicle, truck #416 hit an unexploded mine.

Crossing the border between Libya and Egypt, in a portion controlled by the Egyptian authorities, the truck destroyed one of its back wheels after an explosion.

Luckily the three members of the vehicle were not injured.

The Egyptian authorities are currently on site to move the truck. All vehicles situated behind the incident have been stopped in order not to go through the portion where the truck is located.

They will stay where they are in a bivouac until the zone is declared safe.
