Hi Luis, should you be in trouble in Sicily, just contact Mr. Andreap in this forum. He can solve you any problem, being a good mechanic and also a valid body repairer. Moreover, he has a good selection of spare parts just ready off the shelf! He lives near Messina. Silvio

Luis, what route are yu planning to follow? If you are driving a Series III (Santana or original UK rust?) you may choose (depending on time available) to avoid autostrade. A nice, although longish journey would be to follow the "statali" along the tyrrenian coast. In this case, let me know when are you coming to Pisa, there is a cheap and nice B&B close to where I live, and it's a good base to see Lucca and Pisa. Hablamos castillano tambien! Andrea Ho speso un sacco di soldi in donne, birra e Land Rover, tutti gli altri li ho sperperati.

many thanks for the answers ! It's a Santana, 109 SIII 3 door. I recently changed the engine for a 2500 Diesel (NAD) from a Santana S4. It used to be from the local fire dept, so at the moment I'm working in the 109 so is ready for the trip. ( a seat in the back for the kids, and many details) We are finally taking the ferry from Barcelona- Genova - Palermo. Since I just came from Mauritania with a 1962 petrol from a 10 weeks trip. ( I guess that was my first post here) Thanks for the tips !

We are back from Sicilia. Everything was fine, we had a wonderful time, great food, great people, great place! Sicilia shows the "essencia" and complexity of Italian culture and history.

Sorry, I made very few pics. Sicilia was just wonderful, very especial people and culture. A very complex place where people contain the weight and beauty of a difficult history. No wonder Sicilia was the origen of so many italian artists. We visited a bit everywhere, mostly in the interior where there was little or no turism and where we meet many great people. I'm still have home made wine which was given to us in those places. The only funny thing it was that whenever we entered a town, little towns, all people would look at us. I asked a guy and he said it was cause we had an old vehicle. Here also some pics bout the 2 month trip to Mauritania, this time without my family but with two friends. The landrover was a 1962 S II petrol. 13.000 kmts of difficulties with no problema. before the trip the car was completely rebuild. http://viajesyaventuras.mywowbb.com/forum20/118.html
