Dopo 20 anni di onorato servizio la mia marmitta mi sta lasciando...piano piano "il bruttomale" (ruggine) la sta portando via Chiedo se qualcuno ha mai pensato a rifare tutto lo scarico in inox ed eventualmente se qualche anima Pia può darmi un'idea dei costi di questa elaborazione. Vorrei spostare lo scarico + in alto o addirittura accorciarlo e farlo uscire appena dietro la portiera fatemi sapere qualcosa....Grazie. Sarebbe anche gradita la consulenza di "un certo avvocato/artigiano" con un al quale non so se è stato rimontato l'albero anteriore Africaland Italian North-West Club Division

il barilotto centrale sul mio 90 è stato segato tempo fa....se a te impiccia la ritiro più che volentieri Alex so quanto costa uno scarico a prenderlo da una ditta specializzata (sui 300 euro e più) io pensavo di portare i pezzi del mio scarico da qualche artigiano e chiedergli di rifare tutto lo scarico ma con tubi zincati o trattati in maniera tale da non arrugginire, in questo modo dovrei risparmiare qualcosa....quanto costano i tubi di inox al metro??? il terminale mi serve, il mio presenta buchi da ruggine e la piattina attaccata alla traversa posteriore sta marcendo, purtroppo quella del 300 non mi sembra compatibile con la mia,dovrei avere il pezzo in mano per poter vedere le eventuali modifiche. Excuse me, I have been lurking here for a while and was attracted by the word 'marmitta'. I would want to move drainage + up or quite to shorten it and to let out it hardly behind the door fatemi to know something... Grazie. Ciao Jim, welcome back on board, then! Yes, marmitta can be a pot, but also muffler or silencer, as you Englishmen prefer to say. Scarico is another misleading word: can be drainage as in plumbing for waste waters, but in a car it means exhaust. Here and there you will also read about "ponti", but it would be very wrong to translate them as "bridges", which however is part of the meaning! Better to translate as axles. Take also "balestra", which in the middle ages was a powerful weapon in the hands of an archer, but here it means leaf spring, all too well known to Series owners... Bye. Silvio

Yes, Silvio writes excellent English and I am often tempted to use him as a dictionary! Yes, I knew about the 'stock pot' from Fr. 'Marmite' which is on the front of the jar. Like most Brits, I had been eating the stuff for 30 years before I found out what a 'Marmite' was. My wife and my French dictionary have only 'stock pot', so the It. use as a silencer is unusual. Maybe colloquial? I am reading posts on this forum trying to improve my passive Italian, and some things I can figure out - that ponte is a differential and that albero is an axle etc. If all else fails I do have a dictionary... (which does not always agree with itself - eg. 'Scarico' is an outlet pipe but 'exhaust' is a 'scarico'). But Babelfish is appallingly bad...

Yes, Jim, I think that the use of marmitta as silencer can be defined as colloquial, but absolutely normal. Soemtimes here it is referred to also as "padellone" (big pan...), due to the shape of the central silencer in the defender exhaust. Albero (which is a tree...literally) can be translated as shaft, and it is used for the "alberi di trasmissione", that is propsafts. For half-shaft we use semiasse, plural semiassi. Asse is axle of course... Silvio
